How to get a refund after a Claude ban
Short answer: Claude payments are non-refundable except where the terms or law say otherwise. The Consumer Terms say a subscription terminated for a violation gets no refund; if Anthropic ends a subscription for any other reason, web purchases are refunded pro rata. Where you ask depends on where you paid: web/desktop → Get help → Claude Refund Request; App Store → Apple only; Google Play → Anthropic support.
Where to ask, by payment method
| Paid via | Ask | How |
|---|---|---|
| Web / desktop (card) | Anthropic | Get help → Claude Refund Request |
| iOS (App Store) | Apple | reportaproblem.apple.com |
| Android (Google Play) | Anthropic support | Google Play email or GPA order number |
Web subscriptions: official steps
- Sign in, click your name or initials in the lower left and choose Get help.
- Send us a message → Accept → Claude Refund Request.
- Pick a reason and follow the eligibility prompts; if eligible, cancel and refund in the same chat.
- Can't sign in? Contact support from another email and cc the account's email, asking to cancel and refund.
- Cancel separately. A refund request doesn't cancel the subscription; cancel at least 24 hours before renewal (how to cancel).
Support will verify account and payment details (How to get support), so keep your "Your receipt from Anthropic" email handy. Claimed Max monthly API credits aren't refundable.
App Store and Google Play
App Store: Apple processed the payment, so Anthropic can't see or refund it. Use reportaproblem.apple.com → I'd like to → Request a refund; Apple decides (Apple's guide).
Google Play: Anthropic support checks eligibility for active Android subscriptions; for inactive ones send your Google Play email or GPA order number. Google has its own refund page, though some users say they were sent back to the developer.
Other legitimate options and their risks
- Card dispute / chargeback: your bank decides. Anthropic says support can't refund during a pending dispute because the funds are already pulled back; you can continue with the bank or withdraw the dispute and let support refund.
- EEA and UK: refunds may be available within 14 days of purchase, prorated for use, sometimes directly in Settings.
- Brazil, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan residents: the terms give a 7-day right to cancel without reason.
- Elsewhere, local consumer law applies; we can't verify every jurisdiction.

What the cases suggest: App Store refunds get the most positive reports (Apple decides; some say full, some prorated). Web and Google Play users more often report refusals citing a violation. Success posts rarely say the channel, amount or time taken.
FAQ
Can I get a refund after a Claude ban?
It depends. The Consumer Terms say that if access is terminated for a violation, you are not entitled to a refund; if Anthropic terminates a subscription for any other reason, web purchases get a pro rata refund. Source: Consumer Terms.
How do I request a refund for a web subscription?
Sign in, click your name in the lower left, choose Get help → Send us a message → Accept → Claude Refund Request, then follow the eligibility prompts. If you can't sign in, contact support from another email and cc the account's email.
I paid through the App Store.
Only Apple can refund it: go to reportaproblem.apple.com and choose Request a refund. Apple decides.
I paid through Google Play.
Anthropic says its support team checks eligibility for Android subscriptions; for inactive ones, provide your Google Play email or GPA order number.
Should I just file a chargeback?
